A mild start to winter brought early budbreak, raising fears of damage when late frosts were forecast for April.

Happily the vineyard was spared, but repeated rain and low spring temperatures slowed growth and demanded heavy work between the rows.

Disease pressure was constant throughout the growing season, calling for daily effort to keep the fruit clean.

Fine weather finally settled in mid-July and held for a month; the welcome heat advanced ripeness, though it stayed modest for this vintage.

Picking began under grey skies on 7 September 2024 and ended on the 20th, with a break forced by the weather.

Rigorous sorting of the reds was the one condition for the vintage’s quality, and despite the extreme weather, it promises to be exceptional.

The work paid off: grower and winemaker together drew out the potential of fine raw material to make the 2024s genuinely flavourful.

The whites are finely balanced, with fresh fruit and real tension, built around citrus.

The 2024 reds have a solid frame, good flesh and energy.
