After the trials of 2021, the 2022 vintage stands out for its generosity and quality. Later budbreak spared the Mercurey vineyard from April’s last frosts.
The vines then came through a summer of successive heatwaves, broken by a few welcome rains. Those episodes let the grapes concentrate steadily and reach, by late August, a fine balance between sugar and acidity.
That balance runs through every wine on the estate. The whites are rich, round and expressive, on fresh fruit, with a clean attack and fine freshness carried by well-present acidity.
The reds show real intensity, in colour as in aroma. They combine the power of ripe fruit, red or black, with a supple structure. The tannins are silky and well melded, carried by fine density. The palate is generous, the finish long and balanced.
This vintage brings out everything Chardonnay can give and all the finesse of Pinot Noir. A rare year, marked by precision and elegance.
In 2022 the harvest ran from 25 August to 3 September.
